Following 10 weeks of consultation statewide, more than 1000 Queenslanders overwhelmingly confirmed their support for the direction we have set to advance Queensland through a world-class education system.

Global schools through languages supporting plan
Our plan for Global schools through languages is supporting Queensland state school students to develop a global mindset, enable them to communicate across languages and cultures and open doors to further study and opportunities.

The Queensland Government has released its final position on new senior assessment and tertiary entrance systems - Advancing futures: New senior assessment and tertiary entrance systems in Queensland (PDF, 1.5KB).
The new systems will start for students who enter Year 11 in 2019. Commencement in 2019 will ensure teachers, students and families have time to familiarise themselves with the new arrangements.
The new systems include:
- a new senior assessment model that combines school-based assessment with external assessment
- new processes to strengthen the quality and comparability of school-based assessment
- replacement of the Overall Position tertiary entrance rank with an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank
Disability Review Response Plan
In 2016, we undertook an independent review to look at how Queensland state schools can lift learning outcomes for students with disability.
