Planning beyond school

Schools play an important role in preparing young people for life beyond school. It is important that planning for a student’s transition begins early to help them fully consider their post-school options and begin working towards their goals.

Senior education and training plan

Senior education and training plans help shape the direction of a student’s senior education. Schools, students and parents work together to develop an individualised plan. The plan supports students working towards the Queensland Certificate of Education, the Queensland Certificate of Individual Achievement, a Senior Statement or vocational qualification, and/or viable work option.

Pathways to further education and training

Vocational education and training enables students to develop workplace skills through nationally recognised training. VET courses are offered throughout Queensland by both public and private registered training organisations. The Queensland Government funds a diverse range of VET courses and pays higher subsidies for some disadvantaged and vulnerable cohorts to reduce the cost these students pay for training.
